Summer 2011 Makeup Looks

Earlier, I posted the Summer Shoes article that I wrote for a youth magazine, and I said that it was my last article for the publication.  In a way, this is true, as my writing will no longer be published in the magazine, but what I later found out is that I can still write over the summer for their online publication.  And that's exactly what I did, as I was chosen to write an article on Summer 2011 Makeup Looks:
As much as I have a passion for fashion, makeup has never really been my forte.  I do have some beauty knowledge from reading countless fashion magazines, but I would rather talk fashion over makeup any day.  So when I took on this assignment, I was afraid I might not have what it takes to write knowledgeably about makeup.  But after a bit of research, I hope that I have written something that will at least be worthy of those makeup lovers out there.  Also, a quick thanks to my friend, a makeup maniac and follower of this blog, for giving me a simple outline of this season's biggest makeup trends (she was bang on, by the way).  She loves beauty in the same way I love fashion, and together, we could conquer any fashion magazine.  ;)

Note: One of my friends, after discovering my blog, has decided to start a blog of her own.  I am so happy for her, and I hope her blog will become as much a source of pride for her as mine has become for me.  Her blog is not a fashion blog, but you can check it out here.

    I think to an extent beauty and fashion go hand in hand, so it never hurts to familiarize yourself with that field. I used to be a complete beauty junkie as a teenager, but it's calmed down a bit. Love the smokey eye and the natural look!

    Great article. I like the looks you picked, especially the 70's inspired trend which also happens to be my overall favorite of the season. However, I don't know if I can do a big colorful eye. Like you makeup is not my forte. I prefer talking fashion. And when it comes to applying make up well I better stick to a more natural look :)

    I really liked your summer make up looks! I have tried these neon-style lips and I cannot get them to work with my pale skin. Natural beauty is my favourite look, but one I find takes the most work, too. How odd :-) How sweet of you to mention your friend's blog, too.

    Love this! And yeah I once watched all these YouTube-videos on make-up, but when I tried to myself I failed epicly, so I prefer fashion over make-up, but this is really nice. Katy Perry really looks cool

    i love make-up! definitely want to try the 70's look. i also love wearing bright lipstick. it's great because you can wear nothing else and smack on some fabulously bright lipstick and you look done up!!!

    This is a fantastic article, great job! I'm definitely one for smoky eyes and lighter lips, but I also like to experiment with eye colours sometimes - the 70's look is amazing! I really want to invest in some more variety in lip shades as well. :)
