My house, my rules, my pleasure

With just a week to go, the hype over Versace for H&M is fiery hot!  Last year, the anticipation for the Lanvin collection was all about the elegance, but this year, H&M is ready to deck us out in the hottest, sexiest dresses yet.  I've got a lot to talk about, but let's start off with the official commercial:

Although at first a little creepy, I couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the genius ending.  "My house, my rules...my pleasure" - said with a charismatic grin.  I was creeped out by the majority of the commercial, yes, but I couldn't have dreamt up a better way to show that Versace didn't compromise a thing when it came to this collaboration.  Every single piece is to Versace's design standards, and the words "my pleasure" are confirmation that the world of high fashion and the world of fast fashion can exist in exciting, glamorous harmony.

As for the collection itself, it surprisingly doesn't look cheap, which was my initial fear (but that's probably because it actually isn't cheap...it's a fairly expensive collection!).  H&M promises eye-boggling prints, skin-tight dresses, studs and fluorescent colour, all reminiscent of the Spring 2011 collection.  Below are a couple of my favourites:
Unlike the Lanvin collection, where the shoes were a disaster, the shoes from the Versace collection look of much better quality, and are again, very similar to those from Spring 2011.

While the shoes are satisfactory, I find some of the bags this time to be extremely tacky and cheap.  There's just too much glamour, and not enough quality that you run the risk of looking like Snooki on the streets.  You're much better off getting one of the tamer, black handbags.
I find the clothes from H&M collaborations usually never disappoint, whereas it's more difficult to get the accessories right.  But nonetheless, it may have been her house and her rules, but Donatella, trust me, the pleasure is all ours.

  1. How I wish I could afford this collection! The heart dress with the fringe is so bold! And that leather jacket is hot! I'd love the pink bag with the studs too! And that red dress is so sexy and glamorous. It's an amazing collection!

  3. Hey Ang!!!! I am so excited for this collection. I didn't really like anything on the Lanvin collaboration but this one I love. A lot of the pieces look very much like one of my favorite versace spring collections that's why I need these in my life. Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to get my hands on anything, I cant fathom sleeping outside H&M just for a dress, I will try online but I know hats always difficult.

  4. I agree with you, I had the same ideas. I mean when I saw the lookbook some weeks ago I thought exactly that this collection didn't look cheap and some dresses are a nice rivisitation of the f/w and s/s 2011/2012. SO Donatella did a great job and this is maybe the reason why a lots of star wore this collection in the lAst few weeks :D

aNd yes, the bags look tacky! I heard the collection is expensive too, which defeats the purpose of H&M...oh well, thats just what i think, lol.

  10. I really love the black jacket. Even though I am not a fan of H&M, the black, edgy pieces (like this jacket and a pair of boots I saw earlier) are pretty hot.

  12. I like some pieces, but I have to say that others are WAY too out there for me. Not everyday wear, you know?

Luckily, all of them are outside my range (and I don't love Versace) so the decision for me to skip is easy. Until bloggers start posting what they got... I guess.

  13. Super post. Like you said the Versace collection for H&M maybe more affordable..but it is still too much money for my little purse strings.
I do enjoy this collection and kind of covet the black skirt and leather jacket.
I agree with you too..the accessories are tacky, kind of unfortunate.
Anyways wonderful write up and very insightful.
