Are you joking?

April Fools isn't a holiday celebrated by all, and in reality, I don't celebrate it outside of my blog either.  Last year, I made a joke post that due to an epiphany, I was going to change the focus of my blog to the comfy, frumpy lifestyle of Crocs.  Funnily enough, some of you didn't know it was April Fools, and very sweetly supported me on my new venture.  Luckily, jokes get old, so this year, I'm just going to have a bit of fun taking a look at fashion that might have others crying out "Are you joking?!", but which nonetheless fosters pride and appreciation from us fashion aficionados.
Commonly referred to as avant-garde fashion, it's not something understood by everyone.  It may be weird and crazy, but it's never for the sake of being weird and crazy.  It might be a way to say something about society, or it might be a way to emphasize the beauty of a certain human form.  Whatever the reason, it's certainly no joke.

  2. Some of these runway looks are always WTF to me. I mean even Lady Gaga would turn these down, a woman who wore a "meat dress" in public....

  4. really..no kidding on the expenses too! These may be something no one would wear, but you are right, whoever came up with an idea that fashion can be a way of portraying something about the society and human form or for the "cause" of something important in the world, it is one of the great ways for fashionists to ponder over on the runway if they could not read better on politics and science.

  9. You chose one of my favorite looks from McQueen, Viktor&Rolf, Gareth Pugh which are also ones of my favorites designers. BTW, I actually know these outfits may look ridiculous or even awful for some "fashion strangers" but I really find them awesome, (the Pugh's outfits comes from my favorite Pugh's collection ever).

  10. Ah that 2nd look is so weird but amazing! You're so right, eventhough fashion is said to be weird a lot of times, it's great. Like an escape from the ordinary daily life we're all living. I sometimes love to look at some weird looks, they all have a sense of beauty to them I really like. Great post!
