Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2011 RTW

Stylemefab has requested a look at Jason Wu's Fall/Winter 2012 collection, and am I ever glad she did!  I have just started following Jason Wu, and this is his second collection that I have looked closely at. While I know there are people that consider Wu's designs boring and uninnovative, I think Wu does what he is best at doing.  And what he is best at doing is creating beautiful, elegant clothing for women.  For Fall 2012, Wu brought out polished, sophisticated designs with a heavy emphasis on menswear and lace.  These two elements also mix, as can be seen in the strips of lace that run down the sleeves of masculine coats:
This continued on throughout the collection, with the lace migrating onto blouses and made to look like prints.  Embroidery also was made to mirror the effect of lace:
Then the real drama began with lace wrapped around models' eyes, and all the elements coming together in a wonderfully classy ending:
If we ignore all the hype that Michelle Obama started, and look strictly at what Wu designs, we still see a talented young designer with a surprisingly mature eye for transforming women into ladies.

  24. I do like the designs a lot, but they look a bit familiar to me.. Like the feather? skirt looks so similar to a Michael Kors skirt in SS2011, and the maxi black skirt with a slit, looks like something from Dsquared SS2011.. or maybe it's just me?

    Oh! Karlie Kloss plzzz..
