A Knotty Situation

Here's something that quietly became a huge trend - the knotted belt.  I barely even noticed that it became a trend until I began spotting it on every fashion-forward lady's waist.  Belts have already become a wardrobe staple, so what better than to re-invent it by tying a casual little knot?

Much like how Burberry perfected the socks with heels trend for Spring 2010, it also perfected the knotted belt:

And it's not just belts around the waist either!  Handbags are getting their fair share of the fun:

However, what's different about this trend from the socks and heels trend is that it's much safer and easier to successfully pull off.  I can't imagine how you could possibly go wrong with this trend, as long as you've got the right outfit to go with it.  Although a word of advice: don't try knotting your wide belts; you won't necessarily get the same results.  Also, this trend is best done on simple, leather belts.

Knotting your belt is a great way to pull off that easy, breezy look, while updating your outfit at the same time.  The only thing is, I don't know whether I'd be willing to carelessly twist and bend my leather belts into a knot!  But, this trend is definitely a must-try.

  2. I love the knot! But I don't have any long belts to pull it off with! Shoot.

  3. I've tried it several times with my little teeny bitsy belt, and it worked like a charm, must use a bigger one to see the knot, might do this sometime

  4. I loved the knots at burberry, but I think you have to have specific knot-only belts, I founf a heap of long skinny ones at American Apparel that would do the job pretty well.

  13. This trend is really everywhere. I like it. I think it's so big because pretty much everyone can pull this trend off. It's easy to fit into every outfit.

  17. I've been wondering about the same thing about those belts. It's one of the best trends and looks so great on dresses, sweaters, jackets..almost everything. I love the Burberry pictures. And yes, I don't think romance will ever leave our mind and hopefully, our prince charming will come soon enough :-) xoxoxoxo

  18. Love it, but this is the sort of trend that looks great in pictures, but silly in real life (no perfect knots here, yet! Hehe). Please let us know if it worked for you!

    Bisous!

  20. @Shannon: Oh for sure. This trend doesn't work with every kind of belt out there.

@Carlie: Look closely at the photo of the Marc Jacobs clutch. Copy it and you'll be on your way!

@LCT: Unfortunately, I don't have any belts that I can do this with! I currently own a clasp belt, and a stiff sparkly belt. I can't knot either of them!

  24. I actually have been seen this trend a little. The right belt will probably do the trick.

And that sock and heel thing is interesting...I have one friend that was able to pull that look off.
