Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2011

I can't believe that so soon after the Spring/Summer 2011 shows, select designers are churning out their Pre-Fall 2011 collections.  I don't often follow Pre-Fall shows, because if I followed all the different types of collections there are in a year, I doubt I'd have time for anything else!  But considering the popularity of Oscar de la Renta's Spring/Summer 2011 show, I've decided to take a quick look at what de la Renta has given us for Pre-Fall.

His show started off with classic A-line dresses and coats with bows and frayed detailing.  Tweed tended to be his fabric of choice:
Then the dresses started to appear with a slim pencil skirt, or an even wider A-line:
What follows is an effortless transition between prim and proper to something less restricted (but still sophisticated):
As evening rolled around, de la Renta brought out black gowns with shots of neon pink, and full-on coloured gowns:
All of a sudden, de la Renta pulled back from the fun to bring out light pastel gowns, worthy of any royal queen (or queen-to-be...hmm...):
Although Pre-Fall didn't produce the jaw-dropping moments that his Spring show did, it comes to no surprise that de la Renta gave us more polished and proper ensembles.  He caters very well to high-class socialites, and it seems as if he has no intention whatsoever of straying far from his loyal consumers.

Watch the entire show here, in somewhat poor quality.

  1. Oscar de la Renta is a PHENOMENAL designer....as many designers are...but I just love the sleek, modern elegance of his designs, and the effortless confidence of the models that wear them! I especially like the little orange pants number and this exquisite second-to-last baby blue gown. Great pics!

  10. "vey de la renta collection", I must say that the last dresses are too much similar to something realized by Gallaino for dior (and I don't liek when designer purpose similar things) but the other outfits of the show are amazing. For example the mini dress with the feathers or the lovely coats. Good post, for the variety of your blog.

  29. It seems as if the full black dress (#4) is a huge hit with everyone, as well the the bowed skirts (I am in love with the leather one)!

@stylemefab: I don't really keep up with Sex in the City, and so I'm not sure which dress you are referring to. I'm sure it's a stunner though!

@E: Now that you mention it, I can see a bit of Dior in those last couple of dresses, but at the same time, I don't think I would ever see those gowns on a Dior runway. Oscar de la Renta has added his own bit of personality. And thanks, it was fun to do a collection review again!

@Lexy: I know! I look at someone like Karl Lagerfeld, and I just have to ask how he manages to run several labels and collections.

@Anonymous: I second that! He's one of the few designers that never seem to disappoint.

  31. I love this collection. I love his red carpet looks. Especially if it is a glamorous pink gown like in that last picture. or has a pink ribbon as an accent piece. I love the color pink.
