I never expected to be looking at so many different bridal collections, especially at my age, but it seems one request leads to another!
Styleonthecouch has requested a review on Jenny Packham Bridal, and it's astounding to me how all the bridal collections that I have looked at can all be so diverse. For Spring 2011, Packham presented us with a variety of styles, but one thing that stood out throughout the show was this sense of vintage from the 1930s. Instead of going through this collection in order, I'm going to group the styles together. Like any bridal show nowadays, there were short options:
A significant part of the show consisted of column dresses, sometimes done with scallop flaps on the skirt:
But the most beautiful silhouette was that of the subtle A-line (my favourite dress in the entire collection is the first photo):
Finally, as no bridal show is complete without it, Packham brought out classic, traditional ballroom dresses with skirts so soft the models looked like they were walking in clouds:
All this talk of bridal really gets me excited for that day I finally get to say "I do", and whatever dress I happen to be wearing, I know that, in the end, it'll be dwarfed by the true star of the day: love.
See and watch the entire show

Ok Ang...I was just about to ask whats with all the bridal posts (not that I am complaining)....but like.... do you have something to tell us....lol. I love this collection...most of the pieces anyway, the shorter ones I think are more bridesmaid that bride even if you want to be an "unconventional bride".
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet, I always dream of my future wedding too...and of course I dream of the more important thing--true love! I still don't understand the purpose of short wedding dresses. Who would actually walk down the aisle in one of those? However, the other styles are gorgeous...I think my favorites would have to be the flowy, ballerina-ish ballroom dresses. Those skirts are like pillows! I want to just reach out and touch one. I also like the subtle A-line styles as a close second. Some of the vintage-esque pieces are nice as well, especially the center one! Although that would feel a bit glam walking down the red carpet. Anyway, thanks so much for your comment on the topic of uniforms. I agree that an all-the-time uniform would be excessive and very restricting...and it doesn't always seem to work anyway. I like the name "teenage labels" for those hollister and Ugg addicts!
ReplyDeletevery nice....i love the 2nd to the last batch and had saved a couple that I like....these are simpler though than the rest but still very elegant...
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure I'm going to wear a short wedding dress because it's easier to walk in and more fun to dance in! I love the short dresses in this collections but if I have to choose a long one, my favorite is the second one from the last!
ReplyDeleteBackpacks are coming back into being a big trend I think. I saw really cute ones on Anthropologie and Free People websites! xxoxoxoo
i love these collections more ;D i think we're both on the more traditional dresses :D
ReplyDeletenice post !
ReplyDeletewhat I like more ? what you wrote on the bottom....I wish it for you!

Gorgeous dresses! Thanks for the lovely comment :) x
ReplyDeleteThe first two pieces are my favorite. I am slowly coming to realize that I prefer a shorter hemline for wedding dresses - they're very flirty and fun! :)
ReplyDeleteStrong collection. I like the fact that the short dresses can be worn anytime (even after the wedding), though on the downside, they don't really look all that bridal. Not a huge fan of the ballroom look, but the rest is fab. She's doing a sample sale soon in the UK, so at least her dresses are also attainable for less!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you posted about this designer. She does ready to wear as well but her bridal designs get me everytime, I love the vintage styles, and the A Lines are also so glamorous. Thank you so much for posting about my favourite bridal designer XXxxXX

WOw. Maybe I could be boring btu I thinkt hat this collection is really Packham. (this thing could appear stupid but sometimes designers look like having two souls or more: one for each collection...).
ReplyDeleteHiwever, I thinkt hat sometimes (in this collection but also in general) this nice designer is too classic and simple. I know, also, that I research everytime something new and innovative and I understand that in Birdal collections is complicate making new, commercial, elegant dresses.... SO I agree with you about the amazing aestetethic of the first dress ...but apart from that, even if I do love the elegant appeal fo this show, these dresses are not on my style at all ;D
