Mini McQueen

Even though I know these have probably been around for a long time, I only just recently stumbled upon the mini Alexander McQueen Armadillo shoes The Metropolitan Museum of Art New York seemed to have given away at one point:

Absolutely adorable.  I yearn for one of these almost as much as I would a chance to see a pair of McQueen Armadillos in real life!  If you'll notice, there's a tiny hoop at the top, perfect for looping as a necklace.  Wearing a McQueen Armadillo necklace...what a great way to give edge to any outfit.  What a great conversation starter too!

Remember when McQueen skull print silk scarves were in huge demand after McQueen's passing?  I imagine this would be a more fitting tribute to the late genius.  I would love to have one sitting demurely on my windowsill, a discreet little expression of my love for high fashion.

In other news, I've been awarded the Liebster Award by aki!  Thank you so much!  What follows are a couple of questions she had me answer.

1) What is your favourite Nicholas Cage movie?  I haven't seen any.
2) What is your favourite Nickelback song?  I don't listen to them.
3) Do you find yourself using internet memes in daily speech?  No, I don't really find a lot of memes funny.
4) About how many make up products do you find yourself wearing daily?  None.
5) Earrings, bracelets or necklaces?  I would say all, but in reality, I only wear earrings most of the time.
6) Do you bruise easily?  Yes, especially considering all the tight spaces in my residence room this year.
7) Do you burp in front of your significant other?  No significant other, so nope!
8) Do you still lick envelopes?  No.
9) What sound do you hate?  High-pitched Barbie doll voices...
10) Where do you want to be a year from now?  Right where I am now, at school, building up my future.
11) When do you think is the best age/stage in life to move in with your significant other? When you're mature and clear headed enough to see that they really are worth moving in with.

I'm Walking on Sunshine

I've recently been awarded the Sunshine Award 2012 by aki!  Thank you!

As it usually is with these blogger awards, I have to (selfishly) talk about myself and pass it on for others to do the same.  I'll keep it brief since I don't want to bore you all, and as for passing it on, you can only pass it on so many times before it starts to get repetitive, so I'll just leave it open.

Favourite Colour: Light blue
Favourite Animal: Call me cold hearted, but I'm not crazy for animals.
Favourite Number: 7
Favourite Non-Alcoholic Drink: Flavoured water
Facebook or Twitter: Facebook
My passion: Fashion
Getting or giving presents: Ok, I'm a scrooge.  Getting, especially if it's fashion related.
Favourite flower: Calla Lily
Favourite celebrity role model: I don't care much for celebrities (except for one) since I only ever admire them for their work and talent.  But if I had to choose, I would say Anna Wintour for not only her talent, but her determination and perseverance.

Thanks again to aki!  I am truly grateful!

Lady Dior - Lady Grey London

I've said before that there are very few fashion videos out there I find worth taking the time to watch.  A fashion film is best when it embodies the essence of the brand without being too long and drawn-out (ahem, Karl Lagerfeld), contains gorgeous fashion, and like any film, has good acting!  Ever since watching Édith Piaf, and then subsequently watching five more movies with Marion Cotillard (her best performances have been Édith Piaf and Nine), I've come to see her as a respectable actress.  When my friend suggested I take a look at a Lady Dior video with Marion Cotillard, I knew I was going to be watching something better than the usual fashion films.  Not only does Marion perfectly capture the look of the Dior woman, I admittedly have more faith in Dior's film-making abilities than I do in Lagerfeld's.  Lady Dior - Lady Grey London has officially made it onto my list of good fashion films.

It starts off glamorous and naughty, then gets somewhat creepy, but ultimately ends on a beautiful, emotional note.  I honestly almost teared up during the dressing room scene (Ian McKellen was just heartbreakingly adorable!).  The greatest twist made in an 8 minute film, if there ever was one.  So who, then, is the Dior woman?  A woman whose beauty and compassion enraptures men, gives life to them, and in this case, literally brings them to their feet.  A woman whose intensity pulls men away from their inhibitions and constraints, allowing them to express themselves freely.  The ending is, like many successful movies, up to your own interpretation.  I see the ending as symbolizing how, although the Dior woman captivates so many men around her, she is happiest and most free when she is on her own.  Independent and strong, she is not a woman who needs a man.  This is a wonderfully touching fashion film, and one that is fittingly inspired by John Galliano.

On a side note, it's about time I posted about all the wonderful ladies who have taken the time to acknowledge my blog.  I was tagged a long, long time ago by Burning Skies for a fun little handwriting activity which I unfortunately never got around to doing.  Again, a long time ago, Dear Girl awarded me my second Stylish Blogger Award...

...and Dahl gave me my first Lovely Blogger Award.

Finally, just recently, Aimee Victoria Long graced me with my third Stylish Blogger Award.  Thank you ladies for your kind recognition!

Featured Blogger

Whew!  I've just gone through the first half of my final exams...one more week to go!  I thought I'd just take a quick break to mention something: Maebell from s.a.y.u.r.i. does these little blogger features, much like how I do model features.  And she's done a feature on Red-Soled Fashionista!  Check it out here.  Thanks for the sweet words Maebell!

Stylish Blogger Award

Natalie from Diary of a Girl Abroad has graciously nominated fifteen bloggers (me being one of them) for the Stylish Blogger Award.  Thank you Natalie!

With this award, I'm required to share seven things about myself, so...

1) I'm shy.  Everyone I know has always described me as quiet.  That's why I love writing!

2) Some of you may already know this, but I'm a complete hopeless romantic.  I totally believe in finding my knight in shining armor.  We'll find each other one day.

3) I don't like chocolate.  The most I can really enjoy is a small piece.

4) I love Shakespeare.  Strangely enough, I can understand the language, and in fact, I think it's a beautiful language.

5) I hardly ever leave the house without a pair of earrings on.  Earrings always manage to dress up any outfit, and I love feeling my earrings move with every movie-style whip of the head.

6) This might be obvious, but I never type in "text language".  I always type everything out, simply because it's faster for me.  It's so much easier to just type "great" than to go through the entire process of converting it to "gr8".

7) I'm a nerd.  I've stumbled my way through calculus, and now I'm drowning in organic chemistry.  Is it possible for nerds like me to love fashion this much, or am I just delusional...?

I have to nominate fifteen other stylish bloggers, and so here they are!

1) Boulevard de la Madeleine

Congratulations to the fifteen bloggers above!  With this award, you're required to link back to the person that gave you the award and thank them (I find this rule quite funny), share seven things about yourself, and nominate fifteen other stylish bloggers!
