Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2011 RTW

In contrast to Yves Saint Laurent for Fall - which was a strangely nun-like collection - Stefano Pilati revisited what the house of YSL truly is, but with a hint of playfulness mixed in.  The show started off with pristine pieces, and the Le Smoking done in a very relaxed manner.

Then exotic ruffles and colour broke up the restrained lines.

However, almost as if the burst of fun was a dream, Pilati went back to cleaner pieces, but with a bit of leftover playfulness stubbornly remaining.

With a collection that stays true to YSL's roots, it's good to see that Pilati still has the YSL aesthetic securely in place.

Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2011 RTW

It seems like several of you enjoyed Oscar de la Renta's collection for Spring/Summer 2011 as much as I did, and so here is a look at more of the pieces.  Considering this is a Spring collection, what could be more fitting than a ladylike walk through the gardens of Oscar de la Renta?

This collection was all about classic, simple pieces that would last any proper lady for years to come.

Jaws started to drop in the front row as evening came around and not a bit of elegance was spared.

There were so many dresses worth showing you in this collection, but I think I've posted quite a bit already!  Oscar de la Renta never skimps on elegance and sophistication, and am I ever glad he stuck with what he does best.

Lanvin Spring/Summer 2011 RTW

If the Lanvin for H&M collection turns out as good as what Alber Elbaz showed for Spring/Summer 2011, then we are in for a treat - a sporty, draped, pleated, metalized treat, to be exact.  Elbaz gave us sporty glamour for Spring, a combination I didn't even think could exist.  But if anyone's to do it, it would be Elbaz.  He started off with skintight and, at the same time, draped/flowing dresses.

Then we saw pieces that were more on the sporty side, but still had a hint of glamour.

With the arrival of Karlie Kloss in a stunning red number, glamour soon prevailed over the sporty look.

As an end, Elbaz decorated his dresses, not with crystals, but with metal pieces.

Elbaz showed us he can cater to a more sporty consumer just as well as he can cater to his usual glamour woman.  With this kind of glamourous versatility, it's obvious why women love Lanvin.

Model for a Day

Yesterday, I became a model.  Not a real one, but close enough.  I had my graduation portraits taken yesterday, and it was the closest I have ever been to having a modeling experience.

All in all, I was on a natural high throughout the entire "photoshoot", let's call it.  The photographer was nice, creative and was truly interested in getting a good photo.  For once, I actually felt confident about my poses, my smile...everything.  Strangely enough, I only had a bit of lipstick on and a light dusting of powder (which is more than I usually have!), but I genuinely felt  beautiful.  Whether I actually was is up for debate, but being in front of the camera takes all those concerns away.  Looking good isn't such a big deal when you're having that much fun.  

As well, I was asked to bring in a prop that represented who I am, and of course, I instantly thought of fashion.  So I brought in an issue of Flare magazine, with Coco Rocha (my favourite model) on the cover.  I had some great, creative shots with it.

It's funny how being in front of a camera is actually one of the greatest ways to gain confidence.  If some of you don't already, I say: get your photographer friends to click away at you!  Even if the photos don't turn out well, you'll come away with one amazing experience.  We can all be models for a day.
